Show Us Your Life: Teacher Gifts

I’ll just go right ahead and ‘fess up.
We’ve never given one of James’ teachers a gift. Ever.
He’s only had, like, two. But, I can admit we should have treated them better.
Since that’s the case, I’ll one thing that I think makes a good teacher gift and even one thing that my mom had us do for our teachers every single Christmas when I was growing up.
What We Did
Baked cookies!! Can you think of a better Christmas teacher gift?! I mean, seriously, who doesn’t like homemade cookies?

We’d bake about a half dozen per teacher (usually chocolate chip, peanut butter or oatmeal raisin), stick them in the little snack size Ziploc baggies, and drop each baggie into a Christmas printed paper lunch sack, similar to the one pictured above from Gingham Cherry. I think we got them at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby – I’m not sure I remember where we used to shop for those type things back when I was a young’n. Ha. Anyway, we’d each hand-deliver them to each teacher on the last day of school before Christmas, and they always loved them! Er, at least they’d pretend to love them until they were alone…I’m not responsible for trying to read what they actually thought, since I was only, like, 8.
What we’ll do for James’ teachers (someday, I swear)

I love love love the idea of filling canning jars or clear paint cans like those pictured with various fun things…candy, craft supplies (ribbon, stamps), teaching supplies (paperclips, sticky notes), baking mixes, hot chocolate mix, trail mix…the list goes on! Of course, not only will the contents be delicious, the outside will be delectably decorated according to the teacher!
