Making Friends

So, seeing as how we’re moving 1 1/2 hours away from here soon,

one thing that’s been on my mind is that “in a couple months, I’m not going to have any friends.”

(Which is actually a silly thing to worry about, because honestly, we don’t have any friends here either.)

(Mainly from lack of trying.)

(Or maybe we’re just un-likeable.)

Anyway, so the other day I got on Facebook,

searched for people in our new town,

and friended them. Â A lot of them.

And I’m not ashamed.

Because you see, although it might seem like a pathetic attempt at meeting people,

brought about by shyness, confidenceless-ness, or just plain laziness,

it’s not. Â I assure you.

I simply sat back, looked at the situation, and thought “I know what I’ll do!”

“I’ll log onto that giant party/club/class reunion/family reunion/social hub that is Facebook.”

“Surely out of the billions of people that use Facebook, a few will live in our new town.”

“And out of those few, surely one or two will want to be friends.”

But this little guy? Â He found us and wanted to be friends. Â And he stayed around for quite a long time!

I think you will do fine making friends. Butterflies have good instincts for nice people :-)
What a great post! And so many great shots of that beautiful butterfly.
We moved 100′s of miles away a few years back and I had the same fears. Thankfully we got plugged in to a great church and some homeschool groups which helped A LOT!!
I’m sure you’ll find TONS of great friends.
thank you Mikki! I’m excited to start “church shopping” and we’re also really considering homeschooling, so I’m hoping to meet lots of people that way (:
