smitten for sunsets

Have I mentioned before that I love sunsets?

Maybe…here.

It’s true though…I’ve pretty much never seen a sunset (or sunrise, for that matter) that I didn’t think was breathtakingly beautiful.

And a sunset over a lake…well, Hallelujah!

This is Storm Lake in Storm Lake, IA.  We stay at a resort there every once in awhile while Daryl works for Sara Lee there.

The sun goes down at the perfect spot over the lake.

Yesterday (when I took these) the wind was blowing like a hurricane!  The water was a little choppy.

But wow.

It’s so cool to be able to see the sun go all the way down to the horizon.  I haven’t seen that since we left Texas! (:

You can rent sailboats.  But you wouldn’t have wanted to be out in a sailboat on this day – I’m pretty sure the wind would’ve just blown you up in the air and nobody would ever see you again.

This isn’t the sunset over the lake.  It’s the sunrise over the open highway in Northern Missouri.  We left for Iowa at 5am.
